History
My name is Scott Goff; I started working when I was 13 years old. I went 1 day a week to building college on day release and helped my uncle John. He had his own landscaping & building firm which he had run for a good few years. During my time with him on school holidays and weekends, I particularly liked the roofing part of the work. So, when I left school I joined C J Uden as an apprentice roofer during which I learnt a lot of skills.
In 1987 left C J Uden and started out on my own with my dad’s car and my first job was a flat roof. I had to do a lot of work on my own, it was slow at first but over a couple of years I started to get busy. My 8-week-old puppy came to work with me for a few days but she ended up staying 17 years. Proving very popular with my customers so I changed the name to S G G ROOFING AND DOG.
Skills & Training
My dad, brothers and friends helped me out at first until I got enough work to have my own apprentice Chris who worked with me for 18 years. As I got more established I could take on more staff which all are employed. This now includes my two sons, over the past few years. All my team have started as apprentices. They progressed onwards as they got better, you could say they are home grown. All my team is trained to a very high standard and ongoing skill development is a priority for all members of the business, including my self. We take pride in keeping up to date with all new products, tools, safety and techniques. Ensuring our work stays the best.
Company Profile
We are based in Surrey and we are specialists in re-roofing, we have taken off roofs as old as 700 years and put them back together looking as though we never been there. We also do new developments including one off houses or entire estates. All jobs from £55 to £100,000. My clients include Octagon Developments, Applegate Homes, Burhill homes, White Oak Homes, Paul Hunt Homes. Maintenance jobs for Estate agents and over the past 30 years I have done thousands of private houses. No job is the same and we make sure our work is tailored for your needs.
Codes We Follow
Keeping noise down, we use a reputable scaffolding firm, we ensure we are polite at all times. Keeping rubbish bagged and stacked tidily, keeping new materials stacked tidily, sweep up after the days work, keeping the house dry during the work ensuring for the duration of the job it remains watertight, and we will leave your outside cleaner than when we started.
